One year has passed since Gaia Vision Inc. was founded

It has been a year since we founded Gaia Vision Inc. In the first year of Gaia Vision, we conducted flood risk analysis consulting and launched “Climate Vision”, an application for climate risk analysis. We have been blessed with many opportunities for media coverage and speaking at events, and have experienced firsthand the attention we have received as Japan’s first startup company from the University of Tokyo specializing in climate science.

However, climate change is further changing the earth worse, causing much damage around the world: Dec 2021: tornadoes in the central and eastern United States; in Feb-Mar 2022, flooding in southern Australia; Apr-May 2022, extreme heat and water scarcity in India and Pakistan; in May-Aug 2022, extreme heat and water scarcity mainly in southern Europe; in May-Aug 2022: heavy rainfall and flooding in Pakistan; in Jun 2022, water shortages in western Japan; August: Flooding in the Tohoku and Hokuriku regions of Japan; in Aug 2022, flooding in Kentucky, USA… The IPCC’s Sixth Assessment concludes that “It is unequivocal that human influence has warmed the atmosphere, ocean and land.” and that “Human-induced climate change, including more frequent and intense extreme events, has caused widespread adverse impacts and related losses and damages to nature and people, beyond natural climate variability.” While the world is working together to mitigate climate change through decarbonization, adaptation to increasingly severe and frequent weather-related disasters is also an urgent priority.

Gaia Vision has developed and deployed solutions based on research findings from academia, such as those featured in the IPCC, and we have helped many of our clients adapt to climate change and disclose sustainability information. Our work has only just begun, and we are continuing our research and business development to bring the data and knowledge needed for the damage reduction and adaptation efforts that are truly needed in the world to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. We believe that this will lead to the creation of a sustainable and resilient society.

Through cutting-edge climate research and easy-to-use software, Gaia Vision will continue to provide new solutions and value to society, thereby fulfilling our mission: “We will achieve sustainability with science-based perspective on the earth and society.”

Look forward to the future of Gaia Vision!Look forward to the future of Gaia Vision!
