Gaia Vision selected for the MLIT’s SMEs Innovation Creation Promotion Project Subsidy under the supplementary budget for FY2022

Gaia Vision Inc. is pleased to have been selected for the FY2022 “Subsidy for Innovation Creation Promotion Project for Small and Medium Enterprises” (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism). Our proposal is the development of technology that contributes to the advancement of monitoring and observation of river management by utilizing next-generation equipment”. We plan to develop a next-generation flood and sediment disaster forecasting system by launching a consortium with LTS, Inc. and developing high-speed and highly accurate satellite data analysis technology and disaster forecasting technology using hydrodynamics simulation technology and AI analysis technology for satellite data.

Purpose and Overview of the Grant Project

This subsidy project is part of the Small/Startup Business Innovation Research (SBIR) System, a system under which MLIT creates the SMEs Innovation Creation Promotion Fund to promote R&D by small and medium-sized companies (“startups”) that conduct innovative R&D and smoothly implement the results under national leadership in order to implement the Ministry’s SME Innovation Creation Promotion Project and to promote innovation creation in Japan. The SBIR program will conduct a large-scale technology demonstration (Phase 3) to enable startups to implement their technologies in society in three areas: “development and demonstration of technologies for disaster-resilient national land development and area-wide strategic infrastructure management,” “development and demonstration of technologies for creating transportation infrastructure that contributes to strengthening international competitiveness,” and “development and demonstration of technologies for realizing safe and secure public transportation,” thereby promoting social implementation of startups’ cutting-edge technologies in Japan.
