Adopted as “Environmental Startup R&D Support Project for Innovation Creation”

The “Development of Data and Analysis App for Future Flood Risks Due to Climate Change” proposed by Gaia Vision has been adopted as part of the “Environmental Startup R&D Support Project for Innovation Creation” of the Shizuoka Prefectural Environment and Resources Association (SERA). This subsidy project is a Reiwa 4 Environmental Conservation Research Grant (Environmental Startup R&D Support Project for Innovation Creation) implemented by the Ministry of the Environment as part of the Small and Medium Enterprise Innovation System (SBIR System) for the purpose of supporting the research and development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) including startups. The purpose of this subsidy project is to create role models for environmental start-up companies and to promote business and innovation in the environmental field by supporting R&D projects conducted to implement projects that contribute to the environmental conservation, as well as individuals aiming to start a business.

Gaia Vision aims to develop future flood risk data from around the world by utilizing state-of-the-art climate simulation models and geographic data developed by universities and research institutes in Japan, and to improve the application “Climate Vision” that enables companies, municipalities, etc. to assess and manage future climate risks. By doing so, even without specialized knowledge and skills, companies and local governments will be able to deepen their understanding of climate change and respond appropriately. In addition, by developing climate information and adaptation ideas through consulting services and providing applications with high usability, we support management decisions and administrative operations that take into account the risks associated with climate change.
